Befor commenting on my drive to Albuquerque, I have to say that my visit in Las Cruces was quite mellow and quite enjoyable. The little park that I stayed in was comfortable and felt safe. That's a big deal when you're traveling on your own. Also 50 yards away there was an RV place where I was able to get a couple things that I needed without much effort and assistance with a renewed tutorial on my propane set up for my small water heater. Amazingly there are two heater settings in this camper. One works out of the electrical and one works out of the propane furnace setting. The reason that I have to use one of the other has a lot to do with how cold it is. In preparation for Albuquerque, I was aware that I could get down into the low thirties so the furnace part of the heater would be absolutely necessary. Took the opportunity to practice and get it setup correctly before coming here. The staff and fellow campers were very nice and helpful. Everybody has been supportive and have provided some more in-depth information about my camper and camping in general that I know I need. I'm sure that that education will continue everywhere I go. I feel very graced by that. Anyway the drive to Albuquerque was stunning. I really had some inspiration for my other blog writing that I probably will do tonight. The sky was so open and vast and blue with just spots of clouds here and there. However the great cinematic view of mountains to the left and mountains to the right and Hills and Valleys and changes in the train was very inspirational for me. While driving I see the open highway and I feel thats kind of the way my trip and my life is right now.
A couple of things of interest that I will comment about are my rest stop visit between Las Cruces and Albuquerque and my encounter with some traveling ladies in their Campers at this campsite. The rest stop Adventure was more about the fact that its architecture was really synonymous with New Mexico and certainly represented it well. It also had some historic data about tribal history period on a plaque.
I will include those two pictures. There are a couple of women here who had the cutest campers. They are friends and are traveling around the country and are from Canada. I will take pictures of their rigs. The one in particular I know you will find quite intriguing as did I. Finally I include a few pictures of the sunset. I have visited New Mexico and Arizona before and because of the Open Spaces and the Striking image of the mountains against the vast Sky, the sun sets of course are quite stunning. I'm sure I'll take more than one set of pictures of that.
