One day in northern Arizona.

So, instead of stopping in Flagstaff Arizona, I ended up camping in a small town called Black Canyon City, about 40 miles north of Phoenix. The weather was significantly warmer and Flagstaff would have been, but very pleasant. It was a very pretty and quaint sight with many snowbirds who live there during the winter. It's well-kept and has lots of beautiful flowers, shrubs, trees and foliage. I would go back there again. You could tell that people had stayed there for a long time because there were a lot of congregating in the main room where the bathrooms and showers were.   Coffee pots in the AM brought them together and  maybe a game of pool or cards in the eve.  It was rather quaint. I took that one day to drive back to Sedona and stop at two other sites that I had seen previously along with the beautiful red mountains. One was Montezuma's Castle and one was Montezuma's well both ancient tribal sites Montezuma's Castle is tribal living quarters that was carved into the mountain.  It is considered a National Monument now and visited quite regularly by tourists. On a side note, I had been trying to figure out how to get my senior passport so that I could visit the national parks free of charge and this was a sight that offered that opportunity. It only cost $10 for the rest of of my lifetime. I heard that it was going to be raised to $80 sometime later in the year so I was definitely keen on getting mine before that happened. Consequently I paid my $10 and was able to visit the monument with no additional charge.  Montezuma's well is a natural spring Lake that was used centuries ago. It is still being refreshed daily from Deep Water Resources. I'll include some pictures so you can even read more about these things. That is if you'd like. I love Arizona and New Mexico. The Vistas are breathtaking.  The only thing that's a drawback from me is the dryness and the dustiness.
